The Elbe at Glückstadt – a popular water sports destination
Glückstadt is geographically located between Hamburg and Cuxhaven and is part of the water sports area Lower Elbe. Due to its tidal conditions, sandbanks, islands and the sometimes rough weather, this area is among the most demanding but also the most beautiful water sports areas in Germany.
River branches, tidal gullies and sleepy harbours are the perfect mixture for a relaxed trip on the Elbe. For all sailing enthusiasts, we recommend a sailing tour on the ‘Rigmor von Glückstadt’, Germany’s oldest sailing ship still in operation.
Nature lovers can explore the Elbe and the surrounding landscape during a trip on the flat-bottomed boat ‘Tidenkieker’. The trips run all throughout the year from Glückstadt’s outer harbour.
The historic boat ‘Ewer Gloria’ has its home port at the Krückau harbour in Elmshorn. From there, it leaves for regular sailing or motorized tours, for example to Glückstadt.
