Founded in 1617 by King Christian IV of Denmark, Glückstadt looks back on more than 400 years of history. Its harbour and fishing industry have shaped the town from the very beginning. Until the 19th century, Glückstadt was an important port for Greenland expeditions and whaling. Later, herring fishing became a major part of the town’s maritime heritage.
Five audio tours invite you to discover Glückstadt from different perspectives:
