Founded in 1617 by King Christian IV of Denmark, Gl\u00fcckstadt looks back on more than 400 years of history. Its harbour and fishing industry have shaped the town from the very beginning. Until the 19th century, Gl\u00fcckstadt was an important port for Greenland expeditions and whaling. Later, herring fishing became a major part of the town\u2019s maritime heritage.<\/p>\n

Five audio tours invite you to discover Gl\u00fcckstadt from different perspectives:<\/p>\n

\n– Children\u2019s tour: Discover Gl\u00fcckstadt with a tour specially designed for children and young people.

\n– Whaling and herring fishing: Find out how these maritime industries shaped Gl\u00fcckstadt and the lives of its people.<\/p>\n

Depending on the tour, your discovery journey takes approximately 30 to 90 minutes. You can explore at your own pace and take a break whenever you like.<\/p>\n

The app is free to use and offers content in German, Danish and English. The \u201cA King\u2019s Dream on the Elbe\u201d tour also includes an interactive map showing the route and individual listening stations. Pictures and audio stories bring the town\u2019s history to life.<\/p>\n

The \u201cExploring Gl\u00fcckstadt\u201d app was developed as a joint project by the Fisheries Working Group, the Town of Gl\u00fcckstadt, the Detlefsen Museum and Gl\u00fcckstadt Tourist Information.
